Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her support and determination to bettering South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) companies through an engagement using the company's senior administrators in a strategic preparing session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled within the 2024 matric final exams.
With the 724 156 full-time learners who registered with the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% from the registered pupils during the education and learning sector.
These learners realized a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means the financial commitment government is making during the lives of bad and susceptible young children is yielding a favourable effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe reported.
Reflecting on the latest achievements, the Minister highlighted key milestones and ongoing priorities. She devoted to urgently addressing the issue of everlasting Management appointments as well as scarcity of staff at most regional offices.
Additionally, the Minister highlighted the necessity for Neighborhood-based engagements and outreach things to do.
"Our Neighborhood is watching for our immense intensification of Neighborhood outreach, where we prioritise underserved regions to bring expert services closer to our men and women," she reiterated.
With regards sassa to SASSA systems, Tolashe urged management to prioritise enhancing and modernising devices to further improve accessibility, queue management and prevent fraud.
Moreover, the Minister has asked for SASSA Performing CEO, Themba Matlou, to deliver a plan that seeks to resolve the problems of payment channels in rural regions by giving another solution for payments.
"We dedicate ourselves to work with [SASSA]... We sassa grants are available constantly to handle the troubles collectively. Many of us have to be Answer-driven in our course to create adjustments towards the lives of our people today by means of concerted sassa grants initiatives," the Minister claimed.
